The Broadcom Business Model
- Transition from Perpetual Licenses to Term Licenses
- Transition from Individual Products to Bundles
- Cost Structure changed from CPUs to Cores (Note: Broadcom established a minimum 16 core requirement per CPU)
- OARnet classified as Strategic Account
- VMware direct support for VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) only
Key Components of the New OARnet and Broadcom Contract
- Special OARnet discount for VMware Cloud Foundation VCF (products and add-ons). OARnet added the balance due on previous contract to further reduce the cost.
- Special VCF Edge offering and pricing for clients with 256 cores and below (Note: Eligibility based on validation by Broadcom)
- Senior Level Support provided directly by VMware
- 5-year contract to allow for the transition of all clients to the new contract, ensuring predictable software and support cost for life of the agreement (Note: Requires customer commitment to the contract to the end of the OARnet agreement, July 30, 2029)
- Client Support to continue for all current perpetual licenses until their end date
- Client Support to continue during transition to new contract for expired licenses
- Additional hardware required to be licensed under new VCF agreement

- VCF for Data Center
- VCF Edge 256 for Remote Office Environment (Core Range: 256-97)
- VCF Edge 96 for Remote Office Environment (Core Range: 96-16)
