OSC Supercomputers, Third Frontier Network to Power Megaconference Jr

 

Columbus, Ohio (May 18, 2005) - More than 200 school districts and thousands of students will participate May 19 th in Megaconference Junior, a project designed to give students in elementary and secondary schools across the country and around the world the opportunity to communicate, collaborate and contribute to each other's learning experiences in real time, using advanced multi-point Internet videoconferencing technology. Megaconference Jr will run Thursday May 19, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

OSC to Conduct Broadband Study for Ohio

 

Columbus, Ohio (June 2, 2006) - Lieutenant Governor Bruce Johnson has announced the Ohio Department of Development (ODOD) has commissioned an ECom-Ohio Study to examine the availability and cost of high bandwidth network services for business and government use. The study will identify areas of the state that face barriers to economic and workforce growth as a result of limited access to broadband services.

OSC-Springfield Significantly Boosts Network Capabilities

 

Columbus, Ohio (March 8, 2005) - OSC-Springfield (OSC-S) has implemented a network route change, advancing from a T1 to a new DS3 line. Network bandwidth has dramatically increased from 1.54Mbps to 45Mbps, a connection that is 30 times faster than the previous network.

OARnet, OSC's networking division, completed this installation to make OSC-S supercomputers accessible to the U.S. Department of Energy, Department of Defense research laboratories, colleges, universities and area businesses.

OSCnet Project in Cleveland Provides Ohio Connection to Advanced National Research and Education Network

 

Columbus, Ohio (April 24, 2007) — Ohio students, faculty, and researchers will no longer have to look out-of-state for access to the most advanced nationwide network in the United States, thanks to a project in Cleveland that connects Ohio’s research and education network – OSCnet – to the new Internet2 Network.

Partnership delivers Internet2 to Marshall U. through OARnet


 

Columbus, Ohio (January 29, 2010) - Marshall University students, faculty and staff members now have access to the nation’s premier research and education network through a partnership with OARnet, Ohio’s statewide research and education network.

Internet2® is an ultrafast, nationwide networking consortium that connects close to 70,000 research and educational institutions in the U.S. and interconnects with 80 international research networks worldwide.
